2008 Washington Hills Sauvignon Blanc
Another superb white from Washington Hills
Sauvignon Blanc has found an accommodating New World home in the region just east of Washington’s Cascade Mountains. The vintners of Washington Hills have taken the grape in its adopted home and incorporated it into their 20+ year tradition of producing award winning wines. The 2008 vintage was universally late in the region which allowed for a long time on the vine for the grape. This presented the opportunity for full and complex fruit flavors to develop alongside the natural acidity of the fruit. This resulting wine has a beautiful nose of floral and grassy notes with the bright fruit. The fruit explodes on the palate with hints of citrus, grapefruit and nectarines balancing with good natural acidity to proceed with a good smooth finish. Perhaps it should be best enjoyed with a delightfully rich seafood dish.
