2008 De'Cavalieri Cabernet Sauvignon
Stunning Italian Cabernet made in classic fashion
This history of wine in Italy is as old as Europe itself. Grapes are grown in every corner of the country and wine consumption is higher in Italy than anywhere else in the world. Italian wines have obviously achieved a vaunted reputation and deservedly so. Cabernet Sauvignon—a Bordeaux original—is fairly new to Italy but the Villagiachi Cabernet lives up to the esteemed image of Italian wines. Produced in the Veneto region, the wine possesses a rich garnet red color in the glass. Fruit tinged with pleasing hints of vegetation give the nose an herbaceous quality that is unique and delightful. Tannins are prominent on the palate without being overpowering and the result is a sumptuous, full-bodied wine. De'Cavalieri’s Cabernet could certainly pair nicely with just about any meat or poultry dish and even an aged cheese.
