2008 Vignoble Dampt Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Silver Medal Winner - Concours Agricole de Paris!
The highly reputed blind tastings of the Concours de Agricole Paris award prestigious and highly sought after medals to several products but perhaps most significantly, wine. In 2010, the Dampt Burgundy was awarded a silver medal for its 2008 red Burgundy, a stunning accomplishment. Burgundy (Bourgogne in the original French) is one of only a handful or regions in the world that has a name that is synonymous with a style of wine. In Burgundy’s case, they are associated with two styles, a red and a white. The red is a Pinot Noir of world class quality and it always sets the standard for Pinot around the world. The Vignoble Dampt Burgundy certainly falls in line with the best of Burgundies. It is 100% Pinot Noir and thus the Vignoble Dampt shows classic Pinot characteristics mixed with the French terroir of Burgundy. Red currant and raspberry aromas are the predominant features of the nose. Over time, the nose and palate will develop notes of spices, cocoa with bits of smokiness, licorice and flowers, while retaining the light and elegant structure that makes it drinkable at this time. The red will stand up to anything you put next to it but may be best with either beef or roast turkey. It can stand up to a sumptuous feast!
