2007 Viñedos Unco Cabernet Sauvignon

Superb red wines have started coming out of Chile’s Colchagua Valley. The Unco Cab hails from this stellar region and the superior growing conditions combined with an intense attention to detail in the winemaking process produces a wine that is a veritable powerhouse. As the wine is poured into the glass, the first thing one will be struck by is the lovely dark purple color of the wine. Aromas of plum, prunes and violets dominate the nose. The powerhouse attribute of the wine is blatantly obvious on the palate as it is seductively full bodied and this structure is accompanied by gripping tannins. All of this leads to a long and smooth finish that has a touch of new oak. This wine will pair with almost anything off the grill but if you are looking for something with a bit of a Chilean flair to match this Chilean beauty, we recommend empanadas.
