2005 Melanto Terrace Cabernet Sauvignon
A well-balanced Cab from the heart of California wine country.
Although initially a French grape, Cabernet Sauvignon has found a second home in California. California wineries have done some amazing things with the grape. Coming from primarily the Lodi region (with a splash from Amador county), the Melanto Terrace Cabernet embodies California as Cab’s second home. Using 75% Cabernet Sauvignon with 15% Merlot, 5% Syrah and 5% Zinfandel, Melanto Terrace produces a fruit forward and friendly wine. Cedar and vanilla emanate from the glass as the wine is poured. In terms of fruit, one gets tastes of dark cherry and black currant. Joining the fruit on the palate are notes of spice, mint and a subtle hint of oak. Finishing roundly with velvety tannins, this will pair with a char grilled steak or Portobello mushroom or even all by itself on a chilly evening.
