2007 Randall Harris Merlot
Dangerously drinkable Washington merlot
From the Columbia Valley in Washington State, this medium-bodied Merlot has an elegant nose of black cherry, spice, and green peppercorn. On the palate the muted fruit and oak balance perfectly with the subtle spices, and this wine finishes with a velvety smoothness and a touch of soft tannin, the perfect sipping wine. The wonderful spice and dried herbal notes would complement Italian food with red sauce (sprinkled liberally with fresh oregano and basil!) or red meats with any sort of spicy, peppery gravy. This wine is ready to drink, with a refined elegance that is surprising for such a young wine.
